Our Staff

The Pre-School’s friendly and approachable team strive to provide the best possible standard of care and education for each child. We are also committed to making sure that those with particular needs are catered for.

Highly Qualified

All of our key workers are qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 in Childcare, They also hold up-to-date paediatric first aid certificates and child protection certificates. In addition, most are also trained to Makaton Level 2. As well as being highly trained, our staff are passionate about creating a safe, fun and caring environment for children to learn and develop.

Very Experienced

In addition to their qualifications, our team is very experienced in looking after little ones. Together they have many years working in childcare and 18 children of their own! So they never forget the scale of their responsibility to children, parents and carers.

Meet the Team

Dawn, Supervisor

Dawn is the Pre-School Supervisor and has run Pre-School for 22 years. She is qualified to Level 3 in the Diploma in Pre-School Practice, Level 2 Makaton, Level 1 and 2 Safeguarding, Paediatric First Aid. Additionally. she is responsible for safeguarding all children in the setting.

Julie, Deputy Supervisor

Julie is the Deputy Supervisor and is responsible for safeguarding in Dawn’s absence. She has worked at the Pre-School for 18 years. She is qualified to Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Level 2 in Makaton, Level 1 and 2 Safeguarding. Julie also holds a Paediatric First Aid certificate.

 
Sarah, Assistant

Sarah has worked at the Pre-School for 13 years. Her qualifications include Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, Level 2 in Makaton, Level 1 Safeguarding and holds a Paediatric First Aid certificate. Sarah is also trained in Health and Safety, and is responsible for Pre-School Health and Safety.

Weena, Assistant

Weena has worked at the Pre-School for 8 years having volunteered here for 13 years before that. She has a Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce and is also qualified to Level 2 in Makaton, Level 1 Safeguarding and in Paediatric First Aid.

Sallyann, Assistant, SENCO

Sallyann is responsible for Special Educational Needs. She returned to Pre-School in 2020 having worked here for 11 years previously. She has a Level 3 Diploma in Pre-School Practice, Level 2 in Makaton, Level 1 and 2 Safeguarding is also Health and Safety trained.

Daisy, Apprentice

Daisy joined Flying Start in January 2023. She is currently studying for a level 2 in Childcare and education. Daisy lives locally and attended Flying start when she was 2.5 years old.
