About our Pre-School

Peasmarsh Flying Start Pre-School runs Monday to Friday during East Sussex Local Education Authority term time (please click here for term dates). We accept children any time after their second birthday. Most come from Peasmarsh, Rye and the surrounding villages but we welcome all. We are based in purpose-built facilities in the grounds of Peasmarsh Primary School with a dedicated playroom, office, toilets and reception area. Our nursery is well maintained and organised to help a child feel at home and we are always investing in new equipment to ensure we are well-resourced. We have our own, beautiful, secure outdoor playground complete with climbing frames, wigwam, mud pits and lots of ride on toys. This is partially covered allowing the children to play outside in all weathers. In our fantastic vegetable garden the children learn to plant seeds and to grow and harvest vegetables. We also have regular access to the primary school’s playing field, school hall, pond and Forest School area. Our aim is for the children to see Pre-School as a home-from-home.

We are dedicated to creating a warm, safe and nurturing environment where pre-school children feel at ease to learn through their own interests and play. Children are encouraged and supported in all areas of development but we always treat them as individuals; we use the expertise of our highly qualified staff to tailor each child’s learning according to their needs and preferences.

We pride ourselves on good strong partnerships with parents and families. We also work with other childcare settings to promote shared best practice and have strong links with local primary schools to ease the transition to big school. We are an open and approachable team that looks for input to our ideas. We are constantly re-evaluating our homely environment and reflecting on the way we work and the setting we work in.

If you are considering Peasmarsh Flying Start Pre-School for your child, please do get in touch. We welcome visits from parents and children during opening hours so please do come and meet us.
